A Saturday of discovery

12/10/2015

There aren’t many roads within 50 miles of Fendrien’s base that I don’t know. I am fairly confident of that.

Saturday was, however, a voyage of discovery. A quick route back at the end of my loop saw a lane rear into view. It was a road I sort of knew existed, but had never felt the need to ride it.

The alternative route is smooth and well surfaced with a straight forward 5% gradient through a village an on towards home.

But this road…

There was something about that road and that day that made me turn right and onto it.

It

was

brilliant.

The straight A road was replaced by a twisty narrow single track. There were overgrown hedges spilling out onto the lane and grass and moss growing through the ridge in the middle.

But I loved it.

The lane then spiked up hill, shorter and steeper than the regular carriageway through the village. Then before you could be accused of having too much of a good thing, it through me out onto a back street.

I will be back…
